Something I feel that has not gotten enough attention in the Katrina aftermath is how Joe Allbaugh's clients, Halliburton and the Shaw Group, have garnered no-bid contracts on Katrina-related reconstruction. I feel strongly that federal agencies, as important to the United States' safety and security as FEMA, should not employ men in top positions who will profit most from those positions after leaving. Such conditions set up conflicts of interest that endanger federal agencies' efficacy and integrity.

I have done my best to write a petition to the US Senate requesting a 5-year post-employment moratorium on federal agency directors' consulting on or lobbying for contracts with the agencies they worked at.
